Pixel Sorta: Selection Slimer
A downloadable tool
This is a filter for Filter Forge. If you don't have it, they offer a 30-day trial with no restrictions. I'm not affiliated with Filter Forge in any way.
This is a pixel-sorting-like filter that will take a selection (from a host program like Photoshop or Affinity Photo) and 'slime' (or smear) it in various ways, making your original photo look like something awful (or incredible?) happened to it.
This is best used with a host program, and requires you to actually make a selection first. My favorite way to use this filter is to use Photoshop's 'select color range' so that certain parts of the picture get smeared while others remain intact, which can resemble some pixel-sorting algorithms. Of course, you can always do even bolder things with it - try feathering your selection, using the magic wand, or even selecting an RGB channel for even weirder results.
You'll be able to tweak, deconstruct and check out the guts of the filter, adding new features or removing others if you wish. Or, you can just use my custom knobs and switches to make awesome results in just a couple of seconds. No in-depth knowledge of Filter Forge is required to use this filter.
In order to download this tool you must purchase it at or above the minimum price of $4.99 USD. You will get access to the following files:
